The PREGNANT Trial builds upon the success of the MGH Professional Development Coaching Program for trainees, which has:

Spread nationally across multiple institutions
Demonstrated significant reduction in burnout among trainees
Improved well-being and coping skills for physicians in training
Trained a network of 21 female certified physician coaches

Our certified physician coaches are selected from this established program, ensuring participants receive expert guidance from experienced coaches who understand the medical training environment.

Multicenter, multispecialty randomized trial supporting trainee physician parents.

The 4th Trimester Initiative is a pioneering research study led by Dr. Erika Rangel that evaluates comprehensive parental support programs for physician trainees. This trial serves as the foundation for the PREGNANT Coaching Trial, with preliminary findings showing that structured support interventions successfully prevent the typical rise in burnout between pregnancy and six months postpartum.
